He is intrigued by the challenge of elevating a simple, everyday item into a piece of art. This bracelet brings out the beauty of a pencil, which as an object may seem trivial, but is actually the mere medium of his creativity: he uses his pencil to create his drawings.

Production Technology
The idea strikes unexpectedly and is quickly sketched on paper. These rough sketches become detailed artistic drawings. Technical specifics are decided later in the workshop. Designs are then created in Rhino software, where Costis applies his modeling expertise for volume and proportion, the factors that can make or break a jewel. The process continues with resin prototyping, fusion, finishing, hand stone-setting, and rhodium plating.
Design Challenge
The main challenge was to obtain the correct volume of a rolled pencil, so that when worn, it could convey immediately to the actual object. Also, setting the graphite tip, in this case an especially cut ruby, also posed a challenge.
Project Duration
The project started in Athens in September 2012, and was completed in Valenza, Italy in May 2023, to be ready for the Launch of Costis Jewelry in Neiman Marcus, USA.
Operation Flow
This bracelet offers its bearer the joy of wearing a piece that was inspired and transformed from an ordinary and humble object. It slides through the hand, and embraces it so gently, since the pencil rolls around the wrist very comfortably.
Research
My research evolved around the attempt to study how a pencil can be rolled around the wrist. The objective was to render the bracelet comfortable when worn, to choose the right distance between the two meeting edges, and to recreate all distinguishing characteristics, as the writing tip and the end of the graphite.

Costis loves to observe the world we live in. These are the forms he re-creates through his jewelry, by enhancing the sculptural element in any object, by taking the ordinary and elevating it into the realm of extraordinary. He is intrigued by the challenge of elevating a simple, everyday item into a piece of art. This bracelet brings out the beauty of a pencil, which as an object may seem trivial, but it is actually the mere medium of his creativity: he uses his pencil to create his drawings.
