Production Technology
The bamboo joints, crafted using engraving and filigree technique, feature lines with uniform thickness and even spacing. The techniques produce a delicate, embroiderylike look and capture the natural grain and hue of golden bamboo, giving the piece lively brilliance under changing light. They also enhance the surface hardness of the gold, improving its scratch and wear resistance. The diamonds are microprong set, whose spacing and angle are calculated for secure, smooth settings.
Design Challenge
The challenge is to break from the imitation of bamboo form like traditional jewelry and to imbue the bracelet with modern aesthetics and cultural resonance. Focused on the growth momentum and inherent strength of bamboo, the design team uses calculated softened lines to shape bamboo joints, vividly showing the upward growth of bamboo. At both ends of the bracelet, teardrop shaped emeralds and paveset diamonds create a visual balance from end to end, signifying good fortune and rising success.
Project Duration
Designed and developed in Beijing in February 2024, the product was launched in China in June 2024.
Operation Flow
The bracelet features an openended design for easy wear, while its staggered structure reflects the natural beauty of bamboo joints, unpolished and freely growing. Combining sophisticated aesthetics, reliable structure and durability, the bracelet serves as a keepsake that carries family memories and blessings across generations, ensuring the lasting beauty and enduring worth of fine gold throughout its lifecycle.
Research
As an important cultural symbol in Chinese culture, bamboo is often used in jewelry design to convey best wishes. However, traditional jewelry often stays at a superficial imitation of its form, featuring uniform aesthetics, coarse craftsmanship, and a fading of cultural meaning. In response, this bracelet takes the upward growth trajectory of bamboo as its design language and uses modern fine jewelry craftsmanship to lend the piece a modern elegance and to convey the resilient spirit of bamboo.
Inspiration
Bamboo, known for its upright and steadfast form, is regarded as a symbol of integrity and perseverance, carrying wishes for continual progress and prosperity. Inspired by this concept, the design team refined the imagery of bamboo into the form of the bracelet. The bracelet uses rare golden bamboo as its design prototype, whose warm, golden hue and unique qualities perfectly resonate with the pursuit of the bracelet, timeless elegance and enduring value.
Project Overview
Juze Bracelet has been a Bronze winner in the Jewelry Design award category in the year 2025 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. The Bronze A' Design Award is given to outstanding designs that showcase a high degree of creativity and practicality.
