Emerald Covenant reinterprets the engagement ring through structural elevation and deliberate asymmetry. The emerald-cut diamond is raised within an engineered setting to enhance light and vertical clarity. A curved band and contrasting diamond arrangements depart from traditional symmetry while maintaining balance. Vintage milgrain edges and engraved textures are integrated into a digitally modeled framework, uniting heritage craftsmanship with modern structural logic.

Production Technology

The design began with collaborative hand sketches, followed by CAD modeling to refine structural height, asymmetrical stone placement, weight balance, and integrated milgrain and engraved details. The ring was precision cast in 18K yellow gold with platinum prongs engineered for strength and stone security. After assembly, straight baguette and brilliant round diamonds were hand-set. Final polishing ensured durability and optimal light performance.

Design Challenge

The primary challenge was integrating asymmetry without compromising structural integrity or long-term wearability. Elevating the emerald-cut diamond required precise weight distribution and reinforced platinum prongs. Balancing vintage surface detailing with modern engineering demanded careful proportion control to avoid visual overload while preserving clarity and durability.

Project Duration

The project began with initial concept sketches and client consultations in Westchester County, New York. Digital modeling, structural refinement, casting, assembly, and hand finishing were completed in-house over several weeks. The final piece was completed in February 2026 in New York, United States.

Operation Flow

Emerald Covenant is worn as a traditional engagement ring but introduces a subtle shift in visual experience. The elevated center stone enhances light reflection during movement, while the curved band naturally contours to the finger. The asymmetrical arrangement creates dynamic balance from different viewing angles, allowing the ring to reveal changing perspectives without compromising comfort or stability.

Research

This project is based on applied design and material research exploring structural elevation and asymmetry within a traditionally symmetrical engagement ring format. The process included hand sketches, CAD modeling, structural refinement, and material evaluation. Digital modeling tools, precision casting, and hand engraving techniques were used. The result integrates heritage detailing with modern structural logic, demonstrating that asymmetry can carry symbolic meaning while maintaining functional stability.

Inspiration

Emerald Covenant was inspired by the idea that commitment does not require perfect symmetry. Designed for a couple with engineering backgrounds, the ring explores how structure and individuality can coexist within a unified form. The contrast between linear emerald geometry and softer round accents reflects complementary differences. Vintage surface detailing references tradition, while the elevated, asymmetrical construction represents forward-thinking partnership and shared growth.

Project Overview

The Emerald Covenant Custom Engagement Ring has been a Bronze winner in the Jewelry Design award category in the year 2025 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. The Bronze A' Design Award is given to outstanding designs that showcase a high degree of creativity and practicality. It recognizes the dedication and skill of designers who produce work that stands out for its thoughtful development and innovative use of materials and technology. These designs are acknowledged for their professional execution and potential to influence industry standards positively. Winning this award highlights the designer's ability to blend form and function effectively, offering solutions that enhance people's lives and wellbeing.
