This collection gives impression of organically designed beautiful flowers, however, the creation is originated in the geometric symbol of "Flower of Life" and it goes beyond just a flower image. Uniqueness of this design is that the motif has an another aspect that illustrates an Baobab Tree, which reminds us fruits and sacred power and unconditional love of our mother nature. The main suppose of this project is to express the power of life and create the collection of wearable arts.
Baobab, 3D, CAD, WAX modeling, Ring, Earth
Both modern and traditional technique have been used. Main motif and base ring have been drawn and designed with 3D Cad, and each item has been carefully produced with other hand craft max modeling and traditional metal craft technique.
The first challenge was to designe and transform inorganic geometric symbol to the organic form and the concept with "Life" which would be cherished as an charm.
Project for this Flower of Life Collection had started in 2017 in Tokyo Japan, main designed motif and ring was combined as first Baobab Ring in 2018 and this collection is still growing. Expanded work as for till 2020 were Long station necklace, bracelet, earring and 18k gold and platinum combination version ring.
Baobab Ring is a Signature Silver Ring of the Flower of Life collection. When wearing the ring it shows an organically designed large flower. This flower is constructed with overlapping circles petals which are transformed from the geometric symbol of Flower of Life. When it’s seen from the side, the ring illustrate Baobab Tree image. This main motifs have also crafted for Long Station Necklace and Bracelet.
Main objective for my research was to visualize the order of nature. I had been focusing on the geometry symbol called "Flower of Life" which has been defined as basic template for everything in existence. The research was to study the concept of the symbol and its historical stories that included Key words such as "origin of life" "nature" "eternity". As a result, the design of main motif has been transformed into circles of petals rather than the perfect geometric shape. At the same time, I carefully designed tree trunk and branch into the ring.
This collection, Flower of Life is designed and created with the inspiration of rhythms of mother earth. Flower of Life is known as a sacred geometric overlapping circles pattern. The symbol itself has been used from ancient period and often symbolized all creation on the planet, or even of the universe. I am inspired by the primitive image of this symbol and also empowered by the wild nature; Baobab trees has been known as "Tree of Life".
