Deformable Clothing for HAIWEI WANG
The Growth Curve project carry out innovative experiments on the clothing structure, with fish bone as the support frame and elastic fabric used to wrap the surface, so that the clothing presents a 3D structure like "soft sculpture". At the same time, the clothing structure has the function of expansion and deformation, which can provide a variety of wearing methods for the wearer. The waste fabric produced in the process of clothing production is less, which is conducive to promoting the environmental protection and energy saving of the clothing industry.

According to the principle of mechanics, this work makes the garment structure show 3D structure like "soft sculpture", light and breathable. At the same time, the clothing structure has the function of expansion and deformation, which can provide a variety of wearing methods for the wearer. The waste fabric produced in the process of clothing production is less, which is conducive to promoting the environmental protection and energy saving of the clothing industry.

The main production materials of this fashion design are fishbone and elastic fabric. Among them, fishbone function is the basic framework to shape the overall shape. Elastic fabric is used to wrap the surface and cooperate with the generation of organic form. In terms of the manufacturing principle, the fishbone material is directly sewed on the surface of the fabric, and the concave convex structure produced by the crisscross fishbone is used to drive the fluctuation of the elastic fabric. According to the principle of mechanics, the linear trend combination of supporting materials is designed in advance to make the elastic fabric bear uneven force under the action of fishbone supporting materials, and finally the fabric presents a three-dimensional shape of curl, concave convex and spiral.
The most challenging part of the creation process of this series lies in the process of transforming the two-dimensional plane pattern into the three-dimensional space structure of clothing. There are uncontrollable factors in this process. In the whole production process, sometimes random and accidental changes of pattern arrangement will bring unexpected structure, and also bring more possibilities to clothing modeling.
The project started in October 2018 in Guangzhou and finished in April 2019 in Guangzhou, and was exhibited in Beijing in May 2019.
The fashion design works use a variety of innovative structures, thus creating a variety of clothing modeling. The combination of fishbone and elastic fabric makes the garment not only the "armor" to protect the body, but also the second layer of soft skin. The garment manufacturing method can achieve a rapid prototyping for any shape and structure, including complex surface, without splicing to achieve the integration of clothing, and fundamentally achieve the three-dimensional shape of clothing.
This design aims to carry out innovative research and Practice on clothing structure and materials, and further explore the free presentation of organic form in clothing conceptual design. At the same time, we try to create the "one clothing, many clothes" mode by using the deformable structure, so as to innovate the clothing function and reduce the waste of clothing materials. The positive role of green design concept in promoting green design in the clothing industry and its application prospect in the future wearable fashion field are further discussed.
The inspiration of the work comes from the 3D modeling structure with a sense of future technology, and the rhythmic changes are fascinating. Fishbone is used as the supporting frame of the garment, and elastic fabric is used to wrap the surface to shape the overall organic form. It is like ergonomic extension design, flexible and changeable modeling gives clothing more possibilities, and flowing shape brings people sensory stimulation.
