Production Technology

DA26 Arch uses traditional leather craft combined with innovative detail design to hide majority of stitchings on the bag. The result is crisp, clean minimal surfaces while providing excellent strength and durability on par with visible stitchings. Its unique curves and crisp edge finishing also relies heavily on the expertise of skilled artisans to achieve a refined and consistent result.

Design Challenge

The primary challenges for DA26 Arch, lies in creating a universal gender design that evolves with the changing lifestyle requirement throughout the day. The key also lies in finding an ideal form factor that can offer both mobility and capacity that will make the bag practical in real life use.

Project Duration

The project began in late Mar 2021 and was subsequently completed for production in October 2021, available for retail at brick mortar stores in Bangkok and internationally online via dash. website.

Operation Flow

The bag can be opened with just one finger by simply sliding your finger between the bag and the flap to open. The bag will close itself once you let go of the enclosure. The strap can also be easily installed with dash. custom springbok system.

Research

The research designing the DA26 Arch is centered on studying the lifestyle of specific target users. By observing 8 hand-picked users throughout their day (mixed gender, age between 18-34, living in the city and minimalist style) the designer was able to obtain an understanding of the user's lifestyle, carrying requirement, as well as style requirement as their lifestyle preference that evolves throughout the day; from commute to work and, subsequently, afterwork recreation. A series of prototypes of Both the bag and accompanying accessories were then built and road-tested to help designer fine-tune the design, ensuring that the product is practical to use in the real world.

Inspiration

DA26 Arch bag aims to blur the line between "his" and "hers". Inspired by architectural features, the neutral form is woven seamlessly with functionality. The Arch bag is intended to be a versatile, unisex bag that adapts with user's lifestyle throughout the day; from formal workplace to smart casual look for an evening out. One bag that serves multiple looks.
