Jewellery Collection for Juan Juan Hu Jewelry Design Studio

Jade Fun aims to create interaction between wearers and jades. There have two wearing statuses for each piece of jewelry, with the jade, and without the jade, as the wearer like. Each jade is carved by hands. It is a typical Chinese safety buckle shape, implying peace and auspiciousness, with a hole in the middle of the buckle. In the center of each hole, the designer has designed an 18k gold rivet structure, allowing for free rotation to take the jade out. So each jade jewelry is designed in a screw structure that can be removed, and the wearer can take out and put in each jade freely.

Unique Properties

The Jade Collection took the action and behavior of Chinese people as the source of inspiration. The black impurities with green color in jades look like abstract Chinese painting. And each jade is carved by hands.It is a typical Chinese safety buckle shape, implying peace and auspiciousness, with a hole in the middle of the buckle. In the center of each hole, designer has designed an 18k gold rivet structure, allowing for a free rotation to take the jade out. So each jade jewelry is designed in flexible screw structure which can be removed, and the wearer can take out and put in each jade freely. Production Technology

The materials used are 18k gold, jade and diamond. To make it easy for users to put in and take out the jade, designer has designed a screw structure which can pass through the center hole. The diamond-encrusted 18k gold rim also has a delicate hinge structure that can be turned at an angle of about 60 degrees. The screw is inserted from the sheet and then inserted into the center of the circular jade to be fastened, so that the jade can be firmly fixed. The structure of the collar is well designed. To match the curve of the neck and shoulders, the joints of each piece of the collar are also designed with flexible hinges, making it easy to wear while complementing to the line of human body.

Design Challenge

The screw structure used in jewelry instead of setting jades is challenging and creative.The hinge structure at the joint of each piece of the collar is also challenging and ingenuity-demanding.

Project Duration

The project started in January 2016 and finished in April 2016 in China, and was invited to exhibite in VOD Jewelry Exhibition in April 2016 in Dubai.

Operation Flow

The series include collars, bracelets and brooches. Brooches can be used for two purposes and can also be worn as pendants. Each round jade can be removed or placed by rotating the screw structure in the middle. Customers can put jade into the collar, bracelet, and brooch, or take it out when they want to wear the ornament.

Research

Jade Fun Collection studies have been conducted on the way Chinese people enjoy and play with jades, along with innovation on the joint structure between jades and jewelry. Each piece of jewelry has a screw structure designed to allow users to freely remove or place in jades, so that they can decide to wear or not to wear jade depending on different occasions or costumes, since both approaches are of visual beauty.

Inspiration

Jade is very popular in China. Many Chinese people are fond of jade, appreciating it, admiring it, and putting it under different light (natural light, warm light, cold light, etc.) to see the changes in the color. Such interaction between people and jades inspire designer to design a series of jade jewelry, allowing people to wear the jades as they like.
