Production Technology
Unique style of the gourd shape for this jewelry series lies in the Good Fortune hidden in the gourd and the design of the abstract and enjoyable moldings closely follows the pattern of the two Chinese characters of "Big Fortune". In the meantime, the vines form on the top of gourd borrows from Ruyi, an S-shaped ornamental object (usually made of jade) mostly seen in the imperial palace. Ruyi is a symbol of good luck. 3D printing technology is used in this 18k gold series, and it can greatly improve efficiency of the jewelry processing workshop. This series jewelry includes necklace, earrings and finger ring, accompanied by pearls on both sides of gourds, meaning "Responsive and good luck" from the idea of Chinese tradition. For necklace, you can wear it with the pearl put inside the gourd, or you can take out the pearl to use as a pendant. For pearl earrings, the ear studs could be independently placed on the ear of one side, showing the beauty in balanced asymmetry, compared with the earring on the other side of the ear. The challenge is the balance of Asian traditional culture and contemporary style in Chinese characters. It's a creative way to present good meaning in Chinese characters in unique and contemporary style. And it's a combination of 3D printing industrial technology and handcraft.

Operation Flow
This series jewelry includes necklace, earrings and finger ring, accompanied by pearls on both sides of gourds, meaning "Responsive and good luck" from the idea of Chinese tradition. For necklace you can wear it with the pearl put inside the gourd, or you can take out the pearl to use as a pendant. For pearl earrings, the ear studs could be independently placed on the ear of one side, showing the beauty in balanced asymmetry, compared with the earring on the other side of the ear.
Research
Gourd is viewed by the Chinese people as typical auspicious elements and symbols meaning "good fortune" and "wealth". The series of jewelry, seeking inspiration from the Big Gourd Bottle collected in the Palace Museum, Beijing, with “gourd” and Chinese character “big fortune” as the main elements, are an example of applying the implied auspicious meaning to modern jewelry. Each shape of gourd is designed with the Chinese characters "big fortune" in the middle, and the characters "big fortune" are presented in the form of abstract lines and patterns. Thus, the combination of modern abstract beauty and Chinese characters highlights the modern aesthetics. In addition, the gourd shape of the necklace pendant has a structure that can be opened to place in pearls, or hang them under the gourd, thus allowing for various ways of wearing.
Inspiration
The inspiration comes from the images on the Big Gourd Bottle with two Chinese characters "Big Fortune" collected in the Palace Museum, Beijing. "Gourd" is an auspicious pattern in Chinese tradition. Big Gourd Bottle symbolizes prosperity and harvest.
