Production Technology

Cufflinks are stainless steel in sliver color. It can be opened with magnet closure button. Wood will be polished raw wood to express luxury image. Both the cufflink cover and the wood can be custom designed. Hollow out patterns on the cufflink cover to emit the scent thoroughly. Initials or simple symbols can be applied the laser cut technology to ensure finest design. Patterns can also craved lightly on the wood with laser.

Design Challenge

The challenge is Scented Cufflinks is a new creation in the market. It is hard to find the exact information from the Internet. And it is hard to find cufflink factory to provide a designed design of Scented Cufflinks. Meanwhile, laser technology is tested many times since it is ensure to be craved lightly on the wood to ensure no burn smell on the wood.

Project Duration

The project started in November 2019 in Hong Kong and finished in February 2021 in Hong Kong, and will be launched in May 2021.

Operation Flow

For the first use of Scented Cufflinks, open the cover of the cufflinks. Spray the perfume with 5-10cm distant onto the wood or use dropper to add 2-3 drops fragrance essential. The scent can be lasted 1-2 days depending on the concentration of the perfume. Refill the perfume when the scent faded out. To change the perfume, just simply change another piece of wood. After used, use dry cotton to clean up the cufflinks to avoid the scents overlapped.

Research

Since I have over 10-year experiences on professional tailor of men's accessory. With the communications with my customers, I know that customers like cufflinks in sliver color and stainless steel. And they like custom-made design. Since perfume is a new category to me. I tried to explore more information from Internet about perfume, such as the perfume notes, olfactory family, perfume history, usage and etc. And Scented Cufflinks applied suitable features in it.

Inspiration

Perfume can be added onto wood in Scented Cufflinks to emit scent. Concept combined cufflinks and perfume together. This design is inspired when people spray perfume on wrists with the area near cufflinks.

Project Overview

Noble Perfumer Scented Cufflinks has been a Iron winner in the Jewelry Design award category in the year 2020 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. The Iron A' Design Award is awarded to good designs that meet the rigorous professional and industrial standards set by the A' Design Awards. This recognition is reserved for works that demonstrate a solid understanding of design principles and show creativity within their execution.
