Unique Properties
This is about rings here - created with modern 3D data, but based on archaic symbolism. The heart is considered the symbol of love. Newly developed is the variety, to make emotion hidden inside the ring. As a result, the unique feel is overwhelming when worn, the emotion is literally tangible and therefore becomes the confirmation of the person who wears the ring, whether open or in secret.

Production Technology
First drafts of the rings originated from sketches. Thereafter, the rings were designed with 3Design, a CAD-software specifically for jewelry. Additionally 3Shaper was used, which specializes in organic and figurative representations. From the data solidscape models of residue-free wax were printed by the company MPS, using Rapid Prototyping. These were then cast in silver or any other alloy. In the final stage, the rings were hand polished to ensure absolute smoothness.
Design Challenge
The form-language of design is naturalistic and simple. A playful and kitschy style was deliberately avoided, to give the wearer the freedom to assign her own emotions and attitudes to the ring. The presentation of the hearts is indeed authentic and solid. To find a well balanced design that is not overloaded but not too cool was a challenge. And I had to be sure, that the feeling to the wearer should be sensational.
Project Duration
This jewelry concept originated from the Glueckskind-rings which have a baby on the inside or outside. These have been on the market since the end of 2014. However, the target group that feels addressed by a baby topic is very specific. The baby acts as a kind of catalyst, you love it - or you don't want to know about it. Even with the very limited target group, the demand is strong - with a universal symbol it will multiply. Mystery and confession are nominated for the ‚Innovation Award 2020‘ in Berlin, Germany.
Operation Flow
The design of the rings enables every customer to create a deep individual connection to his or her chosen partner and the feelings for him/her. They are a means to feel and preserve these loving feelings, emotionally in the heart as well as physically on the finger. The rings can be made in any preferred alloy e.g. gold, platinum. There is the possibility for customization. Both rings can be engraved inside, e.g. with name and date. Especially the ring with the hearts on the inside offers itself to add a gemstone at the outside. This could be a diamond or any other gemstone.
Research
Design research was made by building models. There had to be a few tries to find the positions in which the hearts could be arranged without looking odd or being cumbersome to the wearer. The number of hearts and the distance between them is the key to produce different ring sizes.
Inspiration
The Mystery-ring is a simple band ring from the outside - it has a half-relief hearts on its inside. The number of hearts is variable and decorative elements can find their place externally. The Confession-ring is on the outside studded with raised hearts as a half relief. Preferably over the entire length, but it is also possible any smaller number.
