Apparel for Nanjing University of the Arts
The structural design of this garment integrates a traditional men's shirt into a feminine dress, creating a versatile piece through the use of three dimensional cutting techniques. This approach enhances the garment's functionality by offering multiple styling options within a single piece, supporting the one garment with multiple styles concept. The fusion of functional and aesthetic qualities within the design allows for greater flexibility, providing women with a wider range of styling possibilities while maintaining a cohesive and practical form.

The delicate fabric subtly conveys the graceful curves of a woman while also carrying strong gender symbols. This collection deconstructs and reconstructs clothing structures, using three-dimensional cutting and deconstruction techniques to spatially reshape traditionally gendered garments such as men's shirts and suits, blurring the boundaries of gender and creating a limitless interactive space between clothing and the body.

In terms of structure design, the transformation and fusion of the garment's three-dimensional structure change its functionality. By embedding the structure of a traditional men's shirt into a feminine dress, the designer employed three-dimensional cutting to enhance its integration, making it versatile and practical, offering "one garment with multiple styles." At the same time, the functional and aesthetic qualities of the clothing merge seamlessly, providing women with a broader range of styling possibilities.
Balancing fit and comfort can be challenging, as different body types have varying needs. Choosing fabrics that meet aesthetic, comfort, and functionality requirements is essential. Cost control is another difficulty, as high-quality materials and intricate craftsmanship can increase expenses. Additionally, the complexity of designs may affect production efficiency. Rapid changes in market trends require quick responses to keep up with fashion. Sustainability poses challenges as eco-friendly materials and processes often come with higher costs and limited technology. These difficulties demand that designers find the best balance between creativity, aesthetics, technology, and market demands.
The project started in September 2016 in Nanjing and finished in September 2017 in Nanjing, exhibiting in Nanjing University of the Arts.

Ergonomic analysis to optimize fit and comfort; material technology research to select breathable, waterproof, and antibacterial functional fabrics; fashion trend analysis to integrate market demands with stylish elements; craftsmanship and structural optimization to enhance tailoring techniques and durability; eco-friendly and sustainable design using recycled materials and environmentally friendly processes; and smart wearable technology with features such as temperature control and health monitoring. These research approaches ensure that clothing achieves the best balance of comfort, functionality, aesthetics, and sustainability.
